Anodes going fast!

The Monk's Head CREWS buoy has been cleaned every two week. So far, data has been seamless, and the buoy has been standing up the the weather very efficiently.

Primary concerns are:
1- Large quantities of Sargassum are 'scrubbing' the bottom paint from the buoy.
2- The combination of different metals are resulting in the rapid degradation of the anodes on the system.

Planning to do maintenance on the buoy and replace the anodes shortly!

Ruleo delivers

Ruleo Camacho snorkels the cement down to John Halas, who is filling in the drilled holes with cement in order to hold the mooring pins solid.

Pins Installed

The mooring pins were installed by John Halas of Environmental Moorings International, Inc. and Ruleo Camaco of the Department of the Environment.  Cement holding the pins needs to dry for five days, then the buoy will be ready to be installed on Monday, March 19.
